Why the Last 100 Millimetres Can Take Disproportionately Long

A large open living room may allow equipment to move quickly through the central field. The Replacement Floor Should Be Decided Before the Perimeter Detail Is Closed
Whether an original skirting can remain untouched is partly determined by what will replace the magnesite.
Engineered timber, hybrid flooring, vinyl, carpet, polished concrete and other finishes can require different substrate preparation and different finished levels. If levelling compound is required after removal, its planned depth also affects the relationship between the floor and skirting.
This is why removal, grinding, levelling and flooring installation should not be treated as unrelated packages when there are sensitive perimeter details.
A well-sequenced project establishes:
- The existing floor datum.
- The target finished floor height.
- The depth of material being removed.
- The likely slab-preparation requirement.
